Australian high school student, Bill Hirst together with his friends started the trend of the #Gentleminions. The irony being fully grown adults going to watch a movie meant for kids.

The TikTok video of the group of young men lining in up to watch the new Minions movie has started a new trend for people going to cinemas to see Minions: Rise of Gru. The trend has attracted more than 5 million views in app alone.

Videos show of these men fully attired in tuxedos while doing Gru’s signature hand gesture. Others were also spotted to have brought bananas as a snack for the movie.

The movie was released early in Australia on June 23 giving the citizens an early start of the trend. When it was available in different countries, others began to follow the trend.

This also caught the attention of the Universal Pictures, the movie’s production company.

They Tweeted “to everyone showing up to @Minions in suits: we see you and we love you.”

Minions: Rise of Gru is a prequel to the despicable me franchise following the lives of these short yellow characters looking for a new evil boss.
