Midnasty was founded in 2001 by the driven twins, Fry and Murray Kho with the dream to put Dumaguete City on the map. This fueled them to venture into hip-hop. Backed up with their unwavering passion, support from friends, and brothers who later signed to the group, Midnasty, no doubt, was on its way to make a name in the music industry.

Ar Kho, one of the younger brothers of the duo joined Midnasty in 2004. Gifted with a distinct sense of style and “street charisma”, an opportunity landed for Midnasty to reinvent itself. Ar Kho contributed to their rise to popularity in the city by releasing self-produced tracks over the radio station of their university.

Midnasty’s rise led the founding of another secondary group called Chilled Mindz Clique in 2008 with Makoy and Early, the founding members of CMC.

Midnasty won MTV Emerge in Manila way back 2009, which resulted in a recording contract with none other than Apl De Ap of the Black-Eyed Peas.

In 2011, the group opened as the front act for the Black-Eyed Peas, performing Brand New Day.

Midnasty released a new sound and style in 2013, comprising with tracks such as Brand New Day, World Gone Blind, Can You, Gago Trix, Daguit, Only Here for The Night and #Trouble.

They also released Bisag Asa, a 2015 track with another unique style while reflecting their Dumaguete roots.

“Brave” was a 2020 album, which tracks made popular by Midnasty were mYstakes, Ilongga, Cegurado, and Pakilig. They have also released “Agua” in 2021, the song has a contemporary R&B vibe to it.

This year 2022, Midnasty is spoiling us with another great music entitled, “Solo na Lobo”, released on Sunday, March 6. “Solo na Lobo” is a track that expresses their talent and persistence for 20 years being active in the music industry.

This song does not fall short as stories of Fry and Murray Kho’s journey towards crafting an identity for Dumaguete through local music, together with Ar Kho, Makoy and Nikko are highlighted in the song.

According to Nylon Manila, “Midnasty is a gem that reveals so much depth that many can relate to.”
