Amber Heard’s lawyers on Monday has ended cross-examining Johnny Depp at his defamation trial against ex-wife by playing audio recordings of heated arguments between the couple.

“Shut up fat ass,” Depp is heard telling Heard in one of the recordings played for the seven-member jury present in Fairfax County Circuit Court.

In another audio recording, Heard, accuses Depp of having “beat the shit out of” her and throwing a “swing” at her, which Depp has denied ever being physically violent towards Heard and has repeatedly claimed at the trial that she was the one who was frequently abusive.

Depp filed a defamation suit against Heard due to a column she wrote on The Washington Post in December 2018 where she appealed herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Depp was never mentioned on the said article but it has caused Depp from having lucrative acting gigs, but sued her for $50 million for implying that he was a domestic abuser.

Heard counter-sued, asking for $100 million, claiming she suffered “rampant physical violence and abuse” under Depp.

Heard’s attorneys have alleged that Depp become physically and sexually abusive “monster” when drunk or on drugs, and pressed him intensely of his drug and alcohol use.

“If anyone had a problem with my drinking at any time in my life, it was me,” said Depp. “The only person I’ve ever abused in my life is myself.”

Depp also had thrown harsh language in text messages to various friends, one that said “I can only hope karma kicks in and takes the gift of breath from her.”

Depp argued that “it was just irrelevant and abstract humor and that he was ashamed this has to be spread on the world like a peanut butter.”

After Depp testified, his lawyers called Ben King, a witness, who managed the former couple’s home in Australia during the 2015 filming of the fifth “Pirates” franchise.

The testimony revolved around the incident in which the tip of the middle finger of Depp’s right hand was severed.

Depp told that it happened when Heard threw a vodka bottle at him, smashing the finger against the edge of the bar in the house. Heard’s lawyers argued that Depp cut it with a knife in the kitchen.

King’s testimony backed up Depp’s claims. He said he found the severed fingertip in a tissue on the floor of the bar, along with a broken Stolichnaya vodka.

King said while he witnessed frequent arguments between the ex couple during their stay in Australia, and in London, he had never seen them be violent.

Last week, Depp said that the allegations that he was a “drunken, cocaine-fueled menace who beats women” have caused him “everything.”

He furthered that a “couple of days” after the Post column got released, Disney announced him no longer play the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the blockbuster “Pirates” franchise.

Depp filed the defamation after losing a separate libel case in London back in November 2020 that he brought against The Sun for addressing him as a “wife-beater,” per ABS-CBN News.
