Former Nickelodeon child star, Amanda Bynes was finally released form a court conservatorship that put her life and financial decisions under her parent’s control for almost nine years.


Ventura County Superior Court Judge Roger Lund did the termination of Bynes’ conservatorship during a courtroom hearing in the Southern California city of Oxnard, accroding to David Esquibias, Bynes’ attorney.


Lund wrote in court documents, “The court determines the conservatorship is no longer required and that grounds for establishment of conservatorship of the person no longer exist.”


The 35 year old actress rose to fame in Nickelodeon as a teenager, but struggles with mental health, substance abuse, which the law urged the parents to put court control back in 2013.


The judge said that Bynes had demonstrated competency to manage on her own, and this includes her mental health and medical attention. Her parents supported the decision to end the conservatorship. Lynn Bynes, her mother, had since acted as her conservator. During that time, the Bynes told the court of their concern of the then 27 daughter that he might hurt herself or others, unless they were allowed of the temporal control over her medication and finances.


They shared that Bynes had engaged in disturbing behavior, and was convinced she was being watched through smoke detectors and car dashboards. Bynes undergoing dangerous cosmetic procedures posed fear to them as well.


At 13, Byned landed her hit variety program, “The Amanda Show” on Nickelodeon, appeared on the network’s sketch series “All That.” She later on played the main role in the TV series “What I Like About You” and movies such as “What a Girl Wants,” “Hairspray” and “She’s the Man.”


Bynes’ last role was on “Easy A,” starring Emma Stone in 2010 and publicly announced her acting retirement. During interviews, Bynes said she has been sober for years now and is currently studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.
