We all probably know the hit song, “Fancy” that goes "I’m so fancy, you already know", with the iconic Clueless fashion references and all that sass Iggy Azalea embodied on the Music Video. That sure takes us back to 2015.
The singer behind that line and the " Fancy" feature artist is none other than Charli XCX.
It’s her second guest appearance on SNL since her debut on the famous sketch comedy show in December 2014 alongside host, Martin Freeman. She then performed her 2014 hit “Boom Clap,” which was on “The Fault in Our Stars” soundtrack as well as “Break the Rules.”
During the SNL live, Charli XCX performed "Beg For You" featuring R&B singer Rina Sawayama on the recorded version, and was followed by a disco track, "Baby'.
Charli XCX was supposed to perform last December 2021 but it was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Though, the singer still made a cameo in one of the pre-taped sketches that aired during the episode. She played a singing parrot named T.J. Rocks on the sketch, “The Christmas Socks” wearing a parrot costume.
“Crash”, her fifth studio album, is set to debut on March 18, and the two songs she performed are part of it. If you want to know more about her, check her out on BBC Radio 1 podcast, where she hosts “CHarli XCX’s Best Song Ever.”
