George Clooney’s Batman costume in the 1997 Joel Schumacher Batman and Robin is up for auction with a starting price of $40,000. Despite being a popular comic book hero the 1997 movie was not a giant success.

Bruce Wayne’s Batsuit was received with bad reception from its viewers since it was embellished with nipples. Robin was also not excused from this costume design.

This was one of the multiple reasons of the movie not landing well with the viewers. Moving away from Tim Burton’s dark and serious Batman films to Schumacher’s colorful and wacky iteration of the bat.

The caped crusader’s infamous nipple bat-suit auction will be held on July 23-24 as part of the Heritage’s Hollywood and Entertainment Signature Auction. However, Joel Schumacher is stated that he is still glad for adding the nipples on the costumes.

The auction’s vice president Joe Maddalena stated in an interview with Vice that the costume is easily the most famous and infamous Batman costume ever designed. He continues that it still makes headlines every time Tim Burton or George Clooney is asked about it.

The auction will also sell jack Nicholson’s purple Joker suit from Tim burton’s original Batman and Jim Carrey’s The Riddler walking stick in Batman Forever. The opening bid for the joker suit is $ 65,000 and $ 8,000 on the riddler walking stick.
