Following Will Smith’s apology, Chris Rock also took to his Twitter account to issue an apology to the actor as well.

“Last night I crossed a line that I shouldn’t have and paid the enormous price of my reputation as a renown comedian,” Rock stated.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences condemned Smith’s misconduct ad would launch an inquiry into the incident. During Smith’s Best Actor speech, he failed to directly apologize to Rock.

Rock informed in his tweet that he apologized to Smith and his wife “for the disrespect and the disregard I showed.” He expressed, “I hope that, with time, forgiveness can come of this situation and we can all be better, more considerate people in the end.”

On Monday, the film academy expressed its disappointment to the incident stating, “The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.”

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Chris Rock declined on pressing charges against Will Smith.
